About Us

Hi, I’m Steph

I'm the founder and designer behind Little Gold

It began in a little tiny glassed-in kiosk, a greenhouse-like space filled to the brim with sparkling gems.

By the summer of 2014, it was clear this little space wasn't quite big enough to hold all these dreams and jewels, so Little Gold moved into our own standalone shop in the heart of downtown Victoria.

This airy space held a finely-curated collection of pieces from incredible independent designers, alongside my own designs (and also a thriving tomato plant - yes, we encouraged shoppers to eat them!).

With crystal-inspired furnishings hand-built by friends and family, a pile of secondhand rugs, two incredible employees that built it alongside me, and one very, very beloved shop dog, this was home.

After 6 years, although I loved this special space and the beautiful community, I wanted to move more into my own - focusing solely on my designs and handcrafted pieces.

So, in 2020 (yep, that year), with my lease coming to an end, I decided to take the leap (okay, maybe it was after lots of anxiety-filled days trying to gather the courage...) and move Little Gold online and work from my home-studio, focusing on crafting my own designs and exploring new techniques.

You know how every brand seems to have 'started in the founder's apartment'?  Well, mine really did... and I still work from it ✨

Welcome to the Little Gold Studio

My days are filled with designing and planning, hand-carving new pieces, packing & shipping orders, working with my amazing suppliers who are also small-businesses, attempting to figure out social media and, of course, connecting with you.

For my designs, I use both old-school jewellery techniques and modern technology (I, quite literally, use my grandfather's old sculpting tools alongside a laptop!).

I love being able to hand-sculpt a new design - each piece showing the tool marks and individuality of its maker; the imperfect beauty of something made by two hands.

But I also love trying new things and seeing what's out there, so using a mix of hand-carving, traditional sketches and digital renders combined with the ancient method of lost-wax casting and modern techniques like 3D printing, it all comes to life.

The Little Gold Mission

I used to spend hours pouring over my grandma's charm bracelets and jewellery boxes. How cool was it that these little charms and pieces each represented something special? Each was a moment, a memory, weaving together on a delicate gold bracelet, forming a story.

After being in jewellery for so many years, I realized I'm definitely not alone in loving those token pieces; the jewellery that has meaning and emotion. Maybe it's something funny - an inside joke (I see you, Silly Gooses), maybe it's marking a milestone, an ode to the people and things you love, or a little reminder of a mantra you keep close.

My thing is creating pieces that are kind of like life - funny, beautiful, meaningful, and maybe sometimes a little out there.

This is what I’m most proud of about Little Gold: people choosing to connect our jewellery with themselves, the deeply emotional parts of their lives and their own stories; the intimacy of wearing a little token that means something to you.

Yes, the little home necklace may be shiny, tiny and cute. But it also represents the night you and your college roommates moved in together, the late nights spent laughing.

It's art, it's magic and it's your story, too.

For more than 10 years, this has been my inspiration and I'm so honoured to be able to share it and connect with you.

Cheers to the next 10!
