We’re a little company, in little Victoria BC, and we make little golden treasures. 

It all started in 2013

12 years ago I said enough is enough! “I’m starting my jewelry business even if it’s the last thing I do”. 

After a very brief and exciting mall kiosk launch… by the summer of 2014 Little Gold had its own store on Johnson street downtown Victoria.

We ran this shop for 6 years, happily developing a reputation as Vancouver Island’s ‘quirky, creative, ‘no design is too random’ jewellery store.

But in 2020 we had a decision to make. With covid leaving Johnson street looking like a ghost town - could we really justify renewing the lease at our shop? 

Unfortunately the answer was no. So in 2020 we built our website and I set up the design studio in my apartment!

 

So you know how some of your favourite brands talk about how they ‘started in their apartment’? Well we’re still very much in that era. ✨

Welcome to the Little Gold Studio

My days consist of emailing customers, dropping off orders at the post office and designing new collections. And I’m SO lucky to get to do what I do :) 

Almost all of the new pieces you see on our website are hand carved by me right here in my apartment.

I’ve been designing my own jewelry for more than 20 years now. It started with making pieces that my friends and I wanted to wear… and then never stopped! 

The Little Gold Mission

At first, it was always about finding that ‘eureka’ moment for a new piece. Designing a charm after our family dog to surprise my mom, realizing scrunched up paper looked cool, zodiac signs - you name it.

I was obsessed with finding the next idea and no design was too random or weird to try out.

But after a few years of running the store and talking with customers, I realized that what we all seemed to enjoy the most was token jewelry. 

Token jewelry has a story behind it. Whether it’s funny or sad, it holds emotional power. 

Wearing token jewelry is intimate. It’s the piece you and your best friend wear because of an inside joke. It’s choosing to use the initial from your partner's nickname instead of their first name.

This tokenship is what I’m most proud of about Little Gold. People choosing to connect our jewelry with deeply emotional parts of their lives is why we do what we do.

Yes, the little home necklace may be shiny, tiny and beautiful. But it also represents the night you and your college roommates moved in together. This is what it’s all about! :)

For more than 10 years now our mission has remained to find more and more of these little golden treasures our community can connect with. Designing truly novel pieces that didn’t exist before.
